Tamura Method / InterSoma

What is it?

A somatic path to inner healing through presence, touch, and compassionate connection.

At the heart of the Tamura Method is the understanding that we each carry two parts inside of us: the Adult self and the Child self.

These two selves experience life very differently. The Adult self is the part of us that can think clearly and navigate the world with presence and discernment. The Child self is much more tender. They hold our earliest emotional wounds and carry the imprints of moments we couldn’t fully process or integrate as kids.

When we’re triggered, often in subtle or surprising ways, it’s usually the Child self that comes to the surface. We might find ourselves overwhelmed by emotion, saying or doing things that don’t quite match the moment, or shutting down completely.

The Tamura Method helps us uncover the roots of our limiting patterns and how they’re held in the body, while gently guiding the Adult self to meet the Inner Child with love and presence. This supports true integration and a return to inner wholeness.

Why the Body?

Rather than focusing solely on mental processing or talk-based understanding, this work happens through the body.

Using gentle, intentional touch and attuned presence, we access the subtle language of the body: sensations, images, and emotional waves which opens the door to the subconscious. In this space, the body remembers what the mind may have forgotten, and together we begin to create safety, restoring trust in the body, and allowing healing to emerge from the inside out.

Reclaiming Inner Leadership

When the Inner Adult and Inner Child are enmeshed, it can feel confusing, overwhelming, or like we’re constantly reacting to life instead of moving from clarity. The Tamura Method gently helps us to differentiate these two inner voices, helping the Adult come back online as a calm, grounded leader.

As this inner relationship heals, we are better able to guide the Inner Child rather than being swept away by their unmet needs. More and more we strengthen in our ability to come home to our true nature as loving, discerning, and deeply attuned.

This shift changes everything: how we relate, how we show up for ourselves, and how we walk through the world.

What People Are Saying

Abby's gifts are many, and foremost is her capacity to hold space in collaboration with the field of love. With Abby's support, listening and presence, I have transformed several deep patterns of separation imprinted in childhood. Her ability to stay in compassionate presence as a loving, embodied and resonate guide, has been deeply impactful and healing for several stuck, young parts in my internal family system. This has allowed a more robust structure for my adult 'Self' to come forward and lead the way more confidently. I have a lot of gratitude for Abby and the medicine she carries to her people, for it is an exquisite balm to the soul.

I was open to looking within, yet hard to see the things I'm hiding. Abby created the container first. Safety. Then she watched my body and movements and saw my guarding, where it was, how I held it. That's a big chunk of conditioned holding to unwind, and the first step was noticing it. Abby gently brought our presence and energy to the field and then into the place on my body it was good to be with first. None of that any small feat, yet Abby's attunement and trust of her inner guidance was noticable, and she holds it. She helped me somatically, and mostly inwardly, see the guarding, and then relax it enough to get a look at what was underneath. She titrates with skill. We went deeper in a few sessions than we'd have gone in any talking container, and that was the work I was seeking, and I'm glad to have found someone with the goods, and Abby has them.  Each session I could feel the opening after and the dropping of story, and being with what's really there. No doubt the work with Abby has been powerful on my journey to deeper self awareness and assuredness. Specifically, for me, not being afraid of power and  wielding it with a benevolent heart.

I had tried to work with counselors for years, rather decades, to get at the heart of what prevents me from being my authentic self. After working with Abby and the Tamura Method for a short time, I feel that I’m truly unlocking that code and on a journey to break free into a whole new plane of living! Abby is a wonderful teacher, guide and trusted confidant. She creates a peaceful, safe space for me to explore. Her approach is professional, caring and infinitely patient. She has also made me understand that she is learning along with me, which makes that journey so much more meaningful. I highly recommend Abby as a caregiver and guide for working to live a better life.

I was initially hesitant to try a Tamura session with Abby because I was looking for a traditional massage to help with neck tension. I assumed the problem was purely physical. However, working with Abby completely shifted my perspective. During a powerful release, I realized just how deeply my physical tightness was connected to an emotional component. What makes Abby's work so unique is how it bridges physical bodywork with deep emotional release. I felt completely safe, unconditionally supported, and deeply met by her. She doesn’t just try to "fix" your body; she holds space for your whole being without judgment. If you are feeling curious about this work, take the leap—it offers a level of profound healing that goes far beyond the surface.
